Gig List – May

WHAT a whirlwind of a month! We can hardly describe, yet believe, the brilliance that an extra day of holiday has made in our lives! And of course the wedding of Royal proportions – it was exquisite. But this month there is a whole new flavour of ceremony. Less of the “I do’s” more of the “LET’S ROCK”!

Here are May’s top gigs;

Times New Viking/Veronica Falls – XOYO tickets
Popular typeface lo-fi rock outfit Times New Viking hit the UK following the release of album Dancer Equired bringing with them their noisy melodies.
Also on the bill is the reverb lashed pop of Veronica Falls.

The Joy Formidable/Bear Driver – Koko tickets
We can’t wait for this one, since the release of The Big Roar we’ve been itching to see these guys and we missed the Borderline show. The Welsh trio will certainly make a noise in Camden, with Bear Driver supporting.

Those Dancing Days – XOYO tickets
Another day, another brilliant show. Daydreams & Nightmares has been another top-notch record that was released earlier this year and hasn’t been taken out of our CD deck since.
The Swedish girl outfit have grown-up since their debut and it shows.

Sufjan Stevens – Royal Festival Hall tickets sold out
The brilliance and majesty of Sufjan Stevens comes to London for two nights. If you have a ticket for this one – it will be an absolute corker. With a sublime mixture of epic instrumentals and glorious melodies, get a ticket if you can!

Explosions In The Sky – Roundhouse tickets sold out
Arguably one of the most under-stated albums of the year Take Care Take Care Take Care came out in April and this show is set to be amazing. The cinematic instrumental music has the perfect backdrop at the Roundhouse – expect something special.

Taking Back Sunday/The Xcerts – Roundhouse tickets
The best things seem to come in two’s this month and especially at the Roundhouse. TBS are back with their original line-up, if that wasn’t exciting enough, recent Bamboozle set lists comprised the entire Tell All Your Friends album, yep.
And then The Xcerts will be supporting – this will be a cracker.

Belle & Sebastian – Roundhouse tickets sold out
The Scottish indie outfit returned with the album Write About Love in a fine return to form. All three dates are sold out and tickets will be at a premium, but all that can be said is it’ll be worth it.

31/05/2011 and 01&02/06/2011
Fleet Foxes – Hammersmith Apollo tickets sold out
Along with Belle & Sebastian, Fleet Foxes seem to be bucking the coupled trend and instead going for three shows. And it is no surprise that both are sold out. The intimate beauty will suit the Apollo better than say Brixton, while the folk outfits soaring melodies will engulf the place. With the new album out bank holiday Monday (02/05/2011) this one is set to be a little bit special.

That is not all for this month either!
It seems May is the month to gig.
